Match Preview - Possible starting XIs for Sunday

Both teams could fairly be labelled “bridesmaids” so far as this season goes. Although it is still early doors with regard to the Premiership, but neither side is fulfilling the promised potential of last season, not yet anyhow.

Following impressive campaigns in 08/09 – for both clubs - we finished ninth and the Toffees closing out in fifth position, aspirations were high for both Zola and Moyes' who are well respected men in the footballing world but who can’t yet get their sides to ‘click’.

West Ham were regarded as potential candidates to compete for the Europa League places this term, while Everton were thought to be well-resourced to maybe repeat their 04/05 achievement of breaking into the top four again. Both ideas as yet falling short of the mark

Neither Zola nor Moyes were/are particularly pleased with the performances of their squads so far this campaign although Gianfranco will be less concerned now – buoyed even - with The Hammers 16th position following that emphatic win at The Boleyn on Wednesday night with a late victory over the Villains, which was only our second league win of the season (FIRST at home) following the opening day success at Wolves.

Not such happy times last night for Moyes and The Toffees though at “Goodiness” Park - as Eusébio called it – beaten by a classier hungrier Benfica.

With our tails up and the Merseysider’s heads down, let’s hope that the Benfica game was as tough as it looked for Everton so that West Ham can heap more burning coals on the head of David Moyes', sorry David

Predictions…? Me, I think…well head says 1 all, heart says.. home win 2 – 1
