Homes For Sale

Don't forget in the bright green area of this blog, right of the 'page', there are some links there to a few homes in this area of Spain which are for sale. The one on Montesol (left) belongs to friends of ours, who, after 5 years or so here have decided they miss their families too much and they have made the heart wrenching decision to return to England to live, having spent almost 6 wonderful years here.

It is a  very attractive well-situated 3 bedroomed villa with an en-suite master bedroom and family bathroom; sleeps 6 and it has it's own pool, check out the link below right. But don't forget to ring us direct if you are interested +34958958142

"Stating the obvious…"

…is how we’ve spent much of the season so far, (Zola has lost a lot of hair in the 14 months he has been at The Hammers).

Of course the team/club is important and we get angry and frustrated, but the fact is, there are fewer things in this life less important constructively than stating the obvious - over and over.

The problem is rarely the problem. The response to the problem is usually the problem; however I do believe the answer is also in the problem. We are in the bottom three but it is trying to get out of that position without the correct effective tools to do it, THAT is the real problem.

Indian Summer

We had those couple of days of rain last week and I thought that the Spanish winter had started to close in on us - how wrong can you be? Since then we have had the most glorious sunshine and high temperatures - today it is already up to 30 degrees and it's just 12 o'clock. It was rather handy having those couple of days in-doors though because it got me started on this 'ere blog thingy.

Can the Hammers Continue in Confidence?

I get the feeling that because of our relative success against Arsenal and for the fact that The Mackems are having a mini crisis, Zola will revert (if that's the right word) to his favoured 4-3-3; maybe a mid-field diamond with Cole at the head asked to play just that little bit deeper so as to try and link-up the play; has he got the work-rate & stamina for that j'think, is it a possibility? Diamanti on the right, Noble and Spector behind him. With Jimenez on the left, Collison and Ilunga behind him. Kovac at the base of the diamond to protect Upson and Tomkins. Peter Kurucz in goal of course, kidding, kidding - we all know it's going to be Stech.

'fallaces sunt rerum species'

There is a library here on Montesol that opens every Wednesday morning. As well as it being a place to loan out (for a small fee) books and films etc it is also a good venue for most to meet up and share their little bit of Coronation Street as it were, you know kind of catch up on all the local gossip a la soap-opera.

I am not one for sitting around letting the grass grow under my feet – in fact I get quite obnoxious at times when I’m bored and have nothing constructive to do. We have been working hard on the house and have had other problems to sort since we’ve been here and that has kept me & J almost completely occupied for most of the time here so far – so no problem there then?
Well (a long drawn-out 'well' that is) I hoped that I would find myself a little job once I got settled which would keep me out of trouble. Strange thing not being at work – we moan about it all of our lives but it is bizarre how I’ve missed it. I’ve applied to do some voluntary work but it’s in Barcelona and I’ll need to study a Spanish course first.

Can We Beat The Gunners?

Although Arsenal are a little more physical this season than last, they still do not like the game to be a bit too rough and tumble for them, that's the first clue to beating them Gianfranco.

Also they appear to have no plan 'B' - plan 'A' relies almost entirely on their slick passing game but they can be so intent on going forwards they forget at times the defensive element of their game so they are vulnerable at the back to the counter when attacking.

What has happened to the Mighty Hammers?

We were ticking along quite nicely last season - alright we had that bad run just before Christmas but Zola managed to pull that Iron out of the fire & we finished quite comfortably mid table.

We are now being managed by Straumer, an asset management company and it would appear that they are reluctant to invest money hence the low-profile loan signings. Not only that they would also appear to have made a boo boo in the sale of Collins to Villa - was that against Zola's wishes and is he [Collins] the start, the thin end of the wedge, with regard to the C & B Holdings asset stripping of the club?

Our Arrival

I always promised myself this blog but only when I finally got the time, this morning is ‘that’ opportune time to start. The weather is beginning to close in now & I'm not able to get outside today to potter and do a little DIY as I have been doing all throughout this fantastic Spanish summer.

The rain is horrendous today and has been overnight, last two days in fact it has been pouring. It really means it in this part of the world when it rains but the Spanish olive farmers having been praying for this for weeks, it swells the crop before harvest time due to start in November.
