The West Ham United duo made the seven-and-a-half hour flight on Wednesday arriving late in the evening local time before travelling to the team hotel. The pair, who both are thought to have a good chance of starting the match this weekend, were then put through their paces along with the rest of the squad the following morning.
Having been sent off against Ukraine last month, Green missed the final FIFA World Cup qualifier against Belarus through suspension. With David James absent though, he will hope to earn a recall and win his ninth cap in the process. Some questions to ask...
What chance do you think our dynamic duo have of making the starting XI? Claret and Blue tinted glasses aside, is Green better that Calamity James and is Upson better (at the moment) than Rio (ganga lapse) Ferdinand? Do they both warrant a starting birth? Should have Cole been there too had he not been injured; is he good enough?
Given our current league position, with three England internationals in the side, is that evidence that there is very little quality for Fabio Capello to chose from, from the current crop of English players in the premiership?
If there is any truth in that does it bode well for England in South Africa? Or is it just a case of us being on an unlucky bad run at the moment and our internationals are evidence "that we are too good to go down"?
